Getting to large map from homepage is not intuitive

I've had several people tell me that the map is too small and then I realize they're not even aware of the large map view. They often comment that getting to the large map is not obvious, but should be.
Perhaps, like Alex's suggestion in ticket #53, when a user clicks on the small map on the homepage, it simply takes them to the large map with the global default view. In other words, the small regional map would not be interactive.
